Equity Alliance of Michigan Secures 3-Year Grant from Ballmer Group

Detroit, MI - [July 8, 2024] – Equity Alliance of Michigan is thrilled to announce the acceptance of a 3-year grant from Ballmer Group. The investment will support the nonprofit’s ongoing commitment to service and leadership through entrepreneurship, empowerment, and employment mobility and resources to residents across Southeast Michigan. 

Ballmer Group’s grant,  will enable Equity Alliance of Michigan  to continue expanding resources to underserved communities and families across the state.

"We are deeply honored to receive this generous grant from Ballmer Group," said Deanna L. Stewart, Founder and Executive Director of Equity Alliance of Michigan. "This funding will be utilized to further our mission of creating a more equitable and just society. With Ballmer Group's support, we can amplify our efforts to address disparities in education, employment, healthcare, and housing, ensuring that all Michiganders have the opportunity to thrive."

Equity Alliance of Michigan creates pathways to success for marginalized communities. This grant will be instrumental in advancing key initiatives that make resources more accessible, including:

  • Entrepreneurship:  Supporting aspiring entrepreneurs with resources, training, and mentorship to foster business creation and growth.

  • Workforce Development: Administering job training programs to enhance economic opportunities for individuals facing systemic barriers.

  • Human Services: Providing access to housing, healthcare and wellness resources for residents in underserved communities.


On Thursday, May 30, 2024, Equity Alliance of Michigan’s Executive Director participated at the Mackinac Policy Conference on the panel entitled, How Justice Demands Are Changing Philanthropy Dynamics.
