Equity Alliance of Michigan is excited to host our 4th Annual Back to School Backpack Drive on Saturday, September 12, 2026. This annual event brings our community together to support Detroit youth and families as students prepare for a successful new school year.

With the support of dedicated volunteers, community partners, and sponsors, we will create a fun, family-centered experience designed to make sure students have the supplies, resources, and encouragement they need to start the school year prepared and confident.

During the event, families will receive backpacks filled with school supplies, along with access to activities, resources, and additional support. More than simply distributing backpacks, this event is about creating a welcoming space where families know their community is invested in their children's success.

We are also excited to welcome barbers and hairdressers who will generously donate their time and talent to provide fresh haircuts and hairstyles for students. These services will help our young scholars look and feel their best as they begin the school year with renewed confidence.

At Equity Alliance of Michigan, we believe preparing young people for success requires more than school supplies. It requires empowerment, encouragement, access to resources, and a strong community standing behind them.

On September 12, we look forward to bringing volunteers, partners, families, and neighbors together to celebrate our youth and help create brighter beginnings for Detroit's next generation.
